Fri 4th of January 2008 – Silvia

In one hour Silvia went from not wanting me to take her picture to begging me to take her picture .... Well, that’s a bit exag- gerated. But in the end she didn't seem to mind it anymore and was reasonably relaxed. She compared coming to see me as going to a therapist. Someone you don't really know listens to you, observes you and even documents you. I told her how a lot of people (she as well) initially put up a smile when you point the camera at them, because the smile works as a mask between the camera who tries to capture you and yourself. lf the camera manages to win your trust, then the mask will eventually be dropped. We also talked about how to deal with very long relationships that finish, about work (Silvia is an architect) and lots of other things that I don't remember.
